“entertainer, singer, comedian, motivator, playwright, piano man, people magnet”
Dezy, the Pianobike Kid gets under the skin of life … and it’s funny… songs eked out of life’s experiences … true stories disguised as lies.
Dezy is a writer of wonderful musical comedy plays, an inspired entertainer, a dynamic piano player, and a mad Irishman. Put him (or his work) in front of any audience and it causes laughter, joy and even an insight or two.
From the time he was 4 years old and saw his Granny entertaining a roomful of people, something in him was ignited. He learnt to share that fire with audiences in Ireland, the UK, Hong Kong, The Netherlands, Belgium, and the USA … in pubs, theatres, and homes. 2006 marked the birth of “Not the Life I Ordered” his first musical play.
In 2007, Dezy fell in love with Clare. She was perfect – except that she lived in Florida. Luckily Dezy knew great people all over the USA and began to tour. In 2010, Dezy and Clare saw Portland for the first time and a sense of home swept over them. They moved here in 2011.
January 2012 saw Dezy bring together a group of Oregonian performers who shared the common belief that, “Be yourself and anything you want you can do!” Their first performance at Elevated Coffee brought a full house to its feet. “Why it works,” Dezy proclaims, “is because we permit ourselves to perform from our very souls!” “The Anythingers” blossomed into a musical. It tells the story behind the show and the wonderful characters who have created it. Nobody is saying the good stuff in life falls into your lap, but The Anythingers’ story proves that it is there if you want it.
“Not the Life I Ordered”, Dezy’s musical, had a marvellous response in August 2012 in Vancouver Washington. Since June 2006, the musical’s debut, there have been numerous rewrites, performances, and tweaks resulting in this version which was performed by 2 troupes – one male and one female – and it works beautifully!
Dezy currently wows audiences around the country at house concerts, black box theatres and other venues and also promoting “Not the Life” which will be put on in a multitude of theatres simultaneously.
When you see Dezy’s shows, you will leave the room two foot taller – or he’ll sell you a hat!
Loved your show at the Mustard Museum last night–especially my song. Bob
